Christmas BBQ Recipes:

1. Perfect Christmas Turkey

Christmas BBQ Turkey

Although an overseas tradition, the Christmas Turkey has become more and more popular in Australia. This recipe adds an Aussie old faithful in the Webber Kettle to produce an amazing and succulent meal for many people. Anthony Pettorino is the foodie who served up this recipe. View his website for ingredients and cooking instructions!

2. Aussie Barbecued Chook

BBQ Chicken

This is a great recipe by an up and coming cook that goes by the name of ‘Not Quite Nigela’. Her name is Lorraine Elliott and she has an amazing Barbecue Chicken recipe that uses only Aussie ingredients, with two of them being Victoria Bitter and native bush spices. Lorraine takes you through the whole process and will have you serving an amazing Aussie chook in no time.

3. Christmas BBQ Ham

Christmas Ham Recipe

The Christmas ham is definitely a staple on the table of many Christmas lunches and dinners. But many of us buy them pre-cooked and ready to slice. But this Recipe by Tony Grigg of South Australia on the Heat Beads website makes you want to throw the apron on and get stuck in. This recipe also needs the services of a Weber Kettle (if you haven’t got one they make a great Christmas present!). View Tony’s ingredients and directions here.

4. Rum and Coke Ribs

Whenever anyone thinks of eating ribs they think of messy messy goodness. This recipe by acclaimed chef Peter Evans for lifestylefood.com.au will have you licking your fingers rather than reaching for the napkins. This recipe is quite easy to get going and the cooking process is fairly hands off, which makes it a great recipe to involve your kids.

5. Aussie Barbecued Lamb Roast

BBQ Lamb Roast

Lamb… it is such a great tasting meat and personally even if I didn’t like it, Sam Kekovich’s Lamb commercials would have turned me for sure! It is such a succulent type of meat when cooked on a Webber over coals and when using Terry McEvoy’s recipe on the heatbeads.com.au website. This is a great recipe with minimal ingredients that lets the cooking process create the wholesome flavour.

6. Mixed Satay Skewers

Satay BBQ Skewers

Satay skewers are great Christmas foods because they are easy to cook, distribute and eat. As nibbles they can be handed straight to your guests with a napkin. No need to dirty up any more plates, you’ll have a few of them at the end of the day that’s for sure! This recipe uses both chicken and a bit of variety. You’ll see that most of the ingredients should be hanging around in your pantry so you shouldn’t need to buy too much for these tasty treats. Take a look at the full ingredients list here.

7. Barbecued Citrus and Garlic Prawns

BBQ Prawns

An Aussie Christmas just isn’t the same without some sort of seafood! Rather than having just cold prawns this year why not take half and get them sizzling on the barbecue with an amazing marinade. This recipe by Kathie on allrecipes.com.au has been saved as a favourite over 190 times! I have no doubt these would be an amazing addition to any backyard Christmas.

8. Smokey Barbecued Meatball Skewers

BBQ Meatball Skewers

You know by now I love food on skewers, so easy to prepare, cook and eat. So it’s no wonder I’ve added another amazing skewer based meal to the list! These tasty barbecue meatball skewers go to another level with the added bacon and smokey barbeque sauce. Take a look at Liz Macri’s recipe that was also in the April 2011 edition of Super Food Ideas.

9. Barbecued Salmon

BBQ Salmon

This little beauty is great if you’re looking for a fresh and light meal for your guests. The accompanying dressing with garlic, capers and olives delivers amazing flavours along with the smokey flavour brought on by the barbecued Salmon. Check out the recipe here.

10. Barbecued Stuffed Pork Loin

BBQ Pork Loin

Any pork recipe that includes crackling is a winner in my mind. This stuffed pork loin is a great dish to add to your Christmas arsenal and the accompanying step-by-step video guide on taste.com.au will have you serving up the tastiest rolled pork roast in no time!

11. Asparagus on the Barbecue

BBQ Asparagus

We’ve made it to the important roughage to help complement the array of meats that you’ll have on show. Asparagus on the barbie is a great addition to any plate. It is a great light and fresh side dish that only needs a little olive oil and salt and pepper to bring a little more of the flavour out. Take a look at the recipe and reviews here.

12. Barbecued Marinated Vegetables

BBQ Marinated Vegetables

As a side dish these vegetables will go great with any of the meats you decide to dish out on the big day. Cooking them on skewers will make it a lot easier to cook them evenly and place on plates. The leftovers are also great with crusty bread! Take a look at the recipe here.

13. Quick and Easy Barbecued Potatoes

BBQ Potatoes

Do you love the taste of roast potatoes with the crispy outer shell and the warm and creamy inside? Well you’ll love these barbecued potatoes. They give the same great texture and taste that oven cooked potatoes give but they can be done while cooking the rest of your food on the barbie. I love efficiency! Check out the recipe by stylistmama on allrecipes.com.au here.

14. Haloumi Cheese Fingers

BBQ Haloumi Cheese Sticks

If you love cheese then this is definitely a recipe for you! Add a little Cypriot-style to your Christmas this year with some barbecued haloumi cheese fingers. They go great with a greek salad and crusty bread or as finger food before the big feast begins! Take a look at Linda’s recipe on allrecipes.com.au.

15. Barbecued Corn

BBQ Corn Cobs

Corn on the cob is a great addition to any meal. Not only does it look great on the plate but when smothered in herb butter they won’t be left until last to be eaten. They are also a fun meal for kids to eat, which is a great way to keep them occupied for a while.  Other recipes can include a bit of chilli to spice things up but I think you’ll love this recipe that caters for everyone.

16. Barbecued Tofu Burgers

BBQ Tofu Burgers

When you host a Christmas day meal you have to make sure you cater for everyone’s needs. It is a special day and you’d hate to see someone left out. Some guests may have peanut or seafood allergies, which can be a hazard. But then there are also guests that may be Vegetarians. It is imperative to find out ahead of time if anyone is and if so you can whip up a couple of these amazing barbecued tofu burgers. This recipe has been known to receive the nod from the most picky eaters that enjoy their red meat. Check out Tracy Rutherford’s recipe that was in the March 2004 edition of Super Food Ideas.

The Christmas BBQ Recipes are in your hands!

I think you’ll agree that is quite a list! While not everything will jump out at you as a must have I’m fairly sure most of it will and your guests will definitely be chomping at the bit to get their hands around them!

If you have any other Christmas BBQ Recipes you think we should add then get a hold of us in the comments below.
