Posted on Tuesday, June 21, 2016

If you are in reno mode, then you would have seen those fantastic Gas Log Fires that are all the rage on the reno programs. They look so life like and stylish.

Now many people would like one, but they don’t think they can have one because they don’t have a chimney breast or fire place to fit one.

So here is the great news, there are now so many designs and applications they can be just about fitted in any home. Here is an example of how they can be installed.

Now the other thing that many people don’t realise is that unlike the real log fires where a lot of the heat goes up the chimney, today’s gas log fires have 4 and 5 star efficiency ratings. There are even some that you can run ducting off to heat other rooms so you are not just heating a single room.

There are a number of places selling gas log fires online but do be careful there a few things to be aware of.

Firstly you should only purchase gas fires that have been approved to Australian standards and secondly all gas appliances must by law be plumbed in by a licensed gas fitter.

There have been a number of people who have tried to save a few dollars by buying online only to discover that the unit they have purchased isn’t suitable for their application, or by the time they had it fitted it would have been cheaper had they bought locally in the first place.

Another thing to consider is warranty. If the unit develops a fault you will need to deal with online company who sold it to you. The gas fitter who installed it for you isn’t going to want get involved as they are only responsible for the installation. Had you purchase the unit from reputable store and they installed it for you then your path is simple. They will have a relationship with the manufacture and will no doubt ensure that your unit is repaired under the warranty.

Check out the extensive range on this website or talk to one of the helpful staff who can help you in selecting the right fire for your home that doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket and buy with confidence knowing that it will be professionally installed and back with a warranty that covers the installation and the unit.
